Founded by Tonye, a passionate advocate and mother, Simone’s Oasis is a reflection of her personal journey raising a child with Down syndrome. Tonye’s commitment to integrity, success, and connection drives every program and resource we create.
Simone Ekezie is a Nigerian artist, self-advocate, and creative storyteller with Down syndrome and autistic traits. After life-saving heart surgery as an infant, Simone has grown into a confident girl whose creativity has become her voice.
Through art, Simone has discovered new ways to express herself, build confidence, and connect with others. Today, she proudly advocates for herself and other children with Down syndrome, autism, and other neurodivergent conditions, showing that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and included.
Simone is the inspiration behind Simone’s Oasis Foundation and Ugo and Sim Sim, the world’s first picture book series featuring a Black main character with Down syndrome. A member artist of The Children’s Art Gallery Lagos, her artwork has been exhibited and sold since 2023.
When she’s not creating art, Simone loves gymnastics, swimming, singing, and bringing smiles wherever she goes.
