In this story Ugo doesn’t understand why his sister, Sim Sim, always gets a visitor to play with after school. Why isn’t he allowed to join in? It’s just not fair! Mummy helps him to understand that Sim Sim has Down syndrome and the visitor she “plays” with is actually a therapist.

Ugo and Sim Sim are stories about the everyday life of a brother and sister living in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ugo is a handsome and friendly boy who is curious about everything. Sim Sim is his cute and outgoing sister with Down syndrome. Together, they take on daily challenges (and sometimes each other) as they learn about life. Topics range from understanding what Down syndrome is to bad hair days; power cuts, being independent, bullying, learning to share, Nigerian culture and more.
